Seven Questions by UCL

Designing for an education conference blog

We revitalized UCL’s Education Conference, one of the UK’s most prestigious University , from a regular blog to a customer engagement company designed to meet the needs of the education community in London.

We shifted hundreds of researchers from traditional contact points (like the education center) to digital self-service channels, making it quicker and easier for researchers to access research from other professionals while encouraging them to self-serve and direct their research topics. Users showed they preferred this style as we have a 60% increases in blogs posted.

We evolved the brand identity extending the revamp into the physical experiences of the conference, redesigned their websites. Our efforts improved customer satisfaction.

Personalized Management

Based on user research, our designs prioritized the tasks most important to customers, such as abstracts of other researchers and conference information, while also elevating non-transactional content about the university’s education research professionals. We created a visual system that established hierarchy and consistency that was also inviting to customers.

To empower customers to take control of their access to education research, we built tools that gave them a personalized snapshot of other’s abstracts and past conference data, seamlessly integrating analytics from past UCL events. Custom dashboard widgets were designed for Students and professionals to address their specific needs.

A Customer Service Upgrade

We created simple features that allow customers to submit their own blogs, see other research, and view conference information. Thousands of customers were driven to complete streamlined tasks through the digital experience. And UCL Education Conference increased their digital international outreach.

Purposeful and Searchable Content

We made content simple to search and navigate. By indexing and dynamically serving up relevant content across the site, UCL Education Conference participants now had more reasons to engage with meaningful and digestible content.
